Internship Blog
Month of April
Hello everyone! We have reached the final month of my OJT, and I wanted to sum up all my experiences for this month instead of having weekly journals since my tasks for this month were similar to the previous weeks.
This month was filled with new experiences and knowledge. Our office received a call from the Engineering Department regarding their wall Ethernet port connection. The Ethernet port was fixed in a specific part of the faculty, and they wanted to set up a PC near that wall, but the port had no connection.
Together with two members of the Tech Team and two other interns, we troubleshooted the problem. We tried changing the port, but still, there was no connection because the issue was with the line mounted inside the concrete wall.
We had to come up with a solution to fix the issue, and we decided to install a new Ethernet port near the PC using a surface-mounted conduit. We successfully installed the new port, and the PC had a connection.
Aside from this task, we also assisted in the installation of access points and switch hubs in various areas of the campus, ensuring that students and faculty members have access to free Wi-Fi.
Overall, my OJT experience taught me a lot of things, especially in the field of technical support. I have gained new skills, knowledge, and experience that I will carry with me as I move forward in my career. I am grateful for this opportunity and for the people who have helped me along the way.
I was assigned to change the Ethernet port, as you can see in the picture. I performed the task well, but there was still no connection. Later on, we concluded that the problem was indeed in the line, but we couldn't resolve it immediately because changing the line would require a lot of construction work.
So, we informed the Dean of the department that he would need to request materials to re-line that specific Ethernet port, so that it would have an internet connection.

On this day, we received a call from the head of the USPF Dance Troupe Team's office regarding his PC with no display. So immediately, I was one of the interns assigned to troubleshoot the problem.
Hello everyone! On this day, we received a call from the head of the USPF Dance Troupe Team regarding his PC with no display. I was immediately assigned, along with other interns, to troubleshoot the problem.
In the photo, you can see us performing checks to determine the possible cause of the problem. We even brought an extra VGA cable for testing, but it turned out that the cable was not the issue. After some testing, we discovered that the problem was with the RAM of the PC.
As an IT student, it is important to be resourceful and use life hacks to make our work easier. We took the system unit out and opened it to remove the RAM. We then cleaned it with an eraser, which helped to improve its performance.
After cleaning the RAM, the unit was successfully displaying again. We were happy to have resolved the issue in just several minutes, even without the Tech Team members' assistance. It was a great learning experience for all of us interns!

Later that day, I was assigned a task that was very different from what I had been doing so far. This task involved software programming, which made me nervous because I had not been trained in programming. Unlike our other tasks which involved troubleshooting technical issues or hardware problems, this task was crucial because it required me to help finish a certain system.
Despite my nervousness, I decided to take this opportunity to explore more about programming and contribute ideas on fixing the specific system.
For several weeks during this month, I worked as a programmer all day, which presented me with numerous challenges as I delved into coding. It made my brain work harder and taught me how to be resourceful by utilizing the internet.
I realized that being a programmer is not easy, and at times, I felt like giving up. However, taking a break for a few minutes and then returning to work helped me push through these moments. Despite the stress, I found joy in programming. Nothing compares to the satisfaction I felt when I solved a programming problem on my own, which gave me the drive and motivation to do better in this field.
After several days of work, I successfully completed the assigned task, and I was ecstatic when our manager commended me on my work. I did not expect to do so well on the task, but the positive results have given me further inspiration to pursue a career in this field.

Hold on everyone! We're almost there! After all the work, tasks, troubleshooting, and more, I have now reached the last week of my internship.
During my last week, I was assigned to be a technical support assistant again, so similar to the previous weeks/months of being a tech support assistant, the tasks given to me were just the same like troubleshooting hardware, and so on.
After all the challenges we faced, we decided to have a small celebration to commemorate our achievements and the knowledge we gained during my internship.
This was one of the best feelings during my internship. Despite the stress caused by the given tasks, I felt all the love and warmth from my co-workers, especially our manager.
I would like to express my huge gratitude to all of you for joining me as I shared my OJT experiences. A special thanks to my co-workers, and especially our manager, for welcoming me to their team as an intern and for teaching me remarkable lessons and knowledge that I will carry with me throughout my entire life and career.
Rest assured, I will ensure that the knowledge I have gained in this internship program will be remarkable and memorable. I will continue to develop my skills and never stop learning.
I will exit this internship as a knowledgeable, skilled, and valuable employee, thanks to the amazing training and guidance I received from all of you. Thank you so much for this opportunity, and I look forward to staying in touch with you all in the future!
